Visiting some 250 homes over the course of the weekend, Ryan had an opportunity to meet many local residents. In addition to residents offering their predictions on who was going to win the Superbowl, a number of issues were discussed. A top concern was about housing densification, especially the impact of nearby high-rise developments on Baseline road. Federal transfer payments to the provinces, following last week's joint announcement on funding for Ontario, raised several questions about how provincial authorities would use that federal funding. The environment was also at the forefront of many residents' questions with new prospective supporters seeking assurance that a Conservative government will implement meaningful action to sustainably develop Canadian natural resources while taking steps to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
Importantly, one individual asked a good question about what to expect from the tone of Ryan's campaign given the current international and domestic climate of divisive and polarized politics. You can see Ryan's response in the YouTube video above.
P.S. Happy Year of the Dragon to those celebrating Lunar New Year!
