He had a lot of great discussions this weekend with local residents. There was a lot of positive energy and enthusiasm despite the wet weather! 

Some members this weekend raised recent debate in the House of Commons regarding Ukraine. Many individuals, while leery of debated references to carbon taxes, wanted to ensure that Canada remains a strong supporter of Ukraine. The environment and addressing concerns relating to housing and cost of living remained local priorities.

Ryan also spoke to a few people concerned about the costs associated with the Liberal-NDP Dentalcare plan outlined in the Fall Economic Statement. In the Statement, the Liberals announced that the families of 380,000 children had received upfront cash transfers (totaling approximately $500 million). However, the Government provided little detail on whether those families had actually been able to access care. Having sponsored a Conservative alternative to the Liberal-NDP plan at the September 2023 convention in Quebec City, Ryan continued to advocate for programs that support successful private sector and provincial programs focused on reducing barriers to care for vulnerable individuals.
